Obsolescence Manager (m/f/d)

Your Responsibilities:

You will manage the three phases of obsolescence management in collaboration with the sales, procurement, development, and logistics departments.

Before an End of Life (EOL) Notification:

  • Participate in risk assessments for components used in products, including lifecycle analyses of bill of materials.

  • Monitor key components electronically to ensure availability.

  • Collaborate with sales and product managers to maintain customer-specific product solutions.

Handling EOL Notifications:

  • Identify components used in specific products and assess their impact.

  • Analyze customer needs based on orders, forecasts, and contractual obligations.

  • Coordinate last-time-buy procurement and define inventory levels for long-term storage.

  • Evaluate after-market supply needs and align with relevant stakeholders.

  • Plan timelines and efforts for alternative solutions in collaboration with technical departments.

  • Oversee projects to implement alternative solutions effectively.

Long-Term Strategy:

  • Support the development of sustainable product designs.

  • Conduct regular forecasts and cost analyses throughout the product lifecycle, starting in the development phase.

  • Develop and evaluate second-source strategies to minimize supply chain risks.

  • Initiate early development of alternative designs when necessary.

  • Contribute to decisions about product phase-outs and adjustments to the product portfolio.

Job requirements

  • A degree in industrial engineering or a comparable qualification.

  • Experience in project management.

  • Affinity for production logistics in the electronics industry.

  • Strong assertiveness and persuasion skills in team settings.

  • Fluent in both German and English, with excellent communication skills.

  • Experience with electronic components in rail vehicles is a plus but not required.
